Introduction
I am creating free online video guides to help people to learn to use Windows 7 and Windows 8 or if there is something you are having trouble working out, if we don't already have a guide for you, you can request one and we will create it for you. Both my self and my friend are IT professionals with many years of windows experience, so we are able to make the hard things on your computer easy. Here's some more information about me:
Ben Kirwood - Co-founder of Windows Guide and Microsoft Certified Professional
I have been involved in the world of computers for about 35 years, the last 20 years I have been getting paid for it. I started off as a computer technician/sales assistant where my role consisted of things like assembling and repairing computers; providing windows support to customers; installing computers in homes and offices; helping people to find the right computer products to meet their needs and of course providing training so that people who had never used a computer before could get the most out of their computer. After doing some study in computer programming, I moved to Brisbane, Australia, which is where I live now. Since moving to Brisbane, I have had a number of Information Technology support roles for large companies such as Hewlett Packard which have increased my skills, knowledge and training in various fields with a large portion of my roles involving Windows support. In my current role, I am an Information, Communications and Technology Manager for a large transport company where I am responsible for managing and supporting all the computers and associated technology in two states and one territory of Australia which is a region covering over four million square kilometers of land. As part of this role, I have assisted in building, testing and implementing Windows 7 as a reliable platform within the company.
Free Antivirus and Antispyware Protection
All computers need to be online to be able to access all the features of the software they have installed on them. When you are online, you are at risk of your computer being infected by viruses and spyware which can damage your files and your computer as well as steal your private information.
So how do you protect yourself from viruses and spyware? There are many different programs offering different features, some of which are quite expensive.
I recommend using the software included with Windows 8 - Windows Defender. Not only does this software offer real-time protection against virus and spyware using up to date virus definitions, but it is free and doesn't make your computer slow or unresponsive like some other antivirus programs can.
Below is a video guide I have created on how to enable Windows Defender
