If you have bought an LCD projector, it’s time that you should install them. Here I have discussed about a few things which you should consider before installing this device.
If you are planning to use your projector for viewing events like movies and sports, the best option is to place it on a flat surface or a table. But keep in mind to put it inside a cupboard or closet when you are not using it. However, if you have children in your house, you would definitely not want to keep it within their reach. In that case, you can ceiling-mount it. This will not only create an uncluttered and a neat look but will also enhance the beauty of your room.
Think about how big you want an image to be projected in your room because this will affect the distance between your screen and the projector. The further the distance of the device from the screen, the bigger the image will look. However, various projector have various throw ratios. A throw ratio is basically the relation between a projector’s distance from the screen and width of an image. The ones that have short-throw lens depicts a bigger image for a definite distance from the screen. So, a short-throw lens is a wise choice for rooms that are small; these machines can be placed quite closer to the screen in small rooms. Long-throw lens are great for ceiling-mount situations where the gadgets are placed further back in the room, behind viewing position.
If you want your piece of equipment to be ceiling-mounted, make sure the lens is just parallel to screen. This will make your image look perfect with straight edges on all the sides. But if the LCD projector is not aligned properly with regards to the screen, it will make the image look like a trapezoid. For example, the image’s top may be wider than its bottom or the right side may be taller than its left one. There are two methods of fixing the shape of the picture—keystone correction and lens shift. Keystone correction adjusts the shape of the image using internal processing. However, this process may affect the quality of the image. Lens shift allows you to tweak the place of the lens inside the device. This means you can compensate for the equipment being somewhat off-axis. Keystone correction comes with almost all kinds of projectors, but lens shift is featured in only a few.
There is one more important thing, which you should consider while installing these tools. They come with high-output lamps generating a lot of heat. So, when placing them, make sure you leave enough space around it for proper ventilation.
Keep these important points in mind before placing the LCD projector at your office, home or institution.
