You Need A Better TV To Compete Online

By Sammy Jetert

If you are a gamer, you are behind the curve if you are using an old TV. So many people now have Nintendo Wiis and XBoxes and the world of online gaming is booming. One thing the Internet has done is to allow us to play games online with people all over the world. But what do you do if you are playing these multiplayer online games on an old TV?

All your competition is playing on a big state of the art flat screen TV not only making their game experience better, but easier. If you are saddled with an old TV, your best bet is to go get one of those cheap flat screen TVs so that you can keep up with the competition. It is impossible to compete in some of these online multiplayer shooting games if you own a regular sized TV. All the 14 year olds that are kicking your behind are doing it on their huge flat screens and you need something comparable to be able to keep up and compete.

Another reason why you might be getting beaten online is the type of connection you have. If many of the other players in your multiplayer game have cable Internet or FIOS from Verizon, their game is going to have virtually no lag and they will have an advantage over you. FIOS is the new fiber optic system that gives you the best and fasted Internet connection available and it is hard to compete against someone with that, as they are always one step ahead.

Even if you do have a flat screen, your picture quality may help determine how well you play. Some flat screens have better clarity than others and you need to make sure your screen is the correct brightness to be able to see everything clearly. There is a new flat screen that has just come out with LED backlighting that has the best picture on the market today. Anyone with one of these sets is going to have the highest picture clarity and that will aid them in any online multiplayer game.

Lastly, you could be playing against players that are decked out with the latest accessories and equipment. For instance, there are a variety of guns you can buy for the Wii that will allow you to aim more accurately and more easily. Someone who is playing the game with the normal controls against someone who is playing with one of these guns is at a disadvantage and might find it hard to do well. Unfortunately with online multiplayer games, between the differences in televisions, connection speeds, and accessories, all players are not on an equal playing field.
